The Black Experience Online Search

African Diaspora

What are you more likely to use when searching for Black/African American products and content; Black Owned, Black Excellence, African Diaspora, Urban, Hip Hop?

Is it just me, or is searching for products, content, and media dealing in the Black Experience difficult?  When I search for products from Black Owned Businesses, or with imagery of Black Diaspora individuals, it can be hard to find what I'm looking for.

Sure, you get results, and there are Black people involved, but it's hard to find the results that are not in a stereotypical box. Finding the right search words is a journey and I end up cycling through a few set phrases, hoping to get a match on something.

When I search for something like Black Excellence, Black Owned, or Urban, I get wildly different things, much of which is not what I'm looking for.  With that issue in mind, I thought it made sense to use a simple prefix in our searches to find all of these things under a new umbrella.

The solution was a simple prefix, (TBE) - The Black Experience.  It is an easy tag to add, which doesn't overlap too much with existing acronyms.  Searches like TBE clothing, TBE paintings, TBE books, TBE restaurants, or TBE Doctors, would hopefully, finally, give some search results that we're looking for.  I'll be adding this tag for items I create, and I hope others will as well. Maybe then we'll be able to accomplish the black experience online search.
