Trends we wished would return!

Video Game Arcades

Having a video game console inside your home wasn't always a normal thing.  A long time ago, most people had to go to an arcade to experience video games.  It is expensive to own gaming systems, and even as we have more devices that are capable of entertaining us with games, things have generally only gotten more expensive for the classic video game experience.  It may be time for Video Game Arcades to make a comeback.  Not just the money hungry experience of the old arcades that would happily devour your quarters for a few minutes of gameplay, but something better.

Public Cafeterias and All you can eat buffets

I remember going to K&W Cafeteria as a kid and picking out a smorgasbord of random food items that tricked me into eating healthy.  Vegetable casseroles, fresh roasted chicken, and the kid favorite mac and cheese.  All served in these little portion control bowls.  I can't lie and say it was necessarily affordable food, but I wasn't covering the bill when I was 10.  I miss the selection of essentially home cooked food that you could get at a restaurant, where the menu changed daily or weekly. Make it affordable, and you have a winner.

Church Community

How many of us grew up in the church and had good church families that built our moral and ethical compass?  How come so many of us of my generation stopped going to church?  It'd be nice to see more people of my generation going back to church and bringing their children to instill those same values we were given.

Aftermarket Car Modifications

We used to have fun seeing our friends update their old cars with a new aftermarket radio, car seat covers, interior lights and more.  When's the last time anyone's seen an aftermarket radio?  With the advent of streaming, having a CD/DVD player in the dashboard has become near obsolete, but … has it really?  There's plenty of room for aftermarket changes to your vehicle, especially in the current day where car prices are so crazy that everyone is holding onto any older vehicle they can.

Men's shorts that fall below the knee

I don't know how it became the default everywhere, but apparently men's shorts have all gone the uncomfortably short route.  There are longer shorts that can be found here and there, but the vast majority are these abominations that are not far removed from daisy dukes.  I may have grown up in the 80's and am no stranger to short shorts on guys, but… we're supposed to learn from history, not repeat it.

Girls' clothes that are not cut and designed like they are adult women

This is one that I didn't even know was a thing until I had a daughter of my own.  Finding an eight-year-old an outfit that doesn't have her belly showing, or is not skintight, or some other adult skewing fashion element, is harder than it should be.

Full sized candy bars

Remember when a Snickers bar was the size of your forearm?  I mean… yes, we were smaller back then, but now the candy bars are smaller and we're bigger, the math wasn't in our favor.

Television shows with more than 10 episodes a season

I'll probably complain about this at least a few times a year.  Back in the day, when we had a full season of 20 - 25 episodes, there was time for a lot of different things to happen in a single season.  We got to know the characters in the show better, to experience multiple storylines that actually got resolved.  We had the ability to skip an episode and not feel completely lost on the overall show.
