Interview with Musician Reggie Love

In an inspiring conversation, Reggie Love, a passionate musician dedicated to uplifting youth through music, shares his journey and the driving force behind his work. Known for his free shows at youth events and churches, Reggie is committed to providing a platform for indie artists across the East Coast.

What is your business about, and what do you do?

“I do free shows for youth events and churches,” Reggie explains. “I host a show, grab the mic, and give indie artists an avenue to get their music heard. Artists from all over the East Coast come to perform.”

How long have you been in this business, and how did you get into this work?

Reggie has always been involved in music, growing up in the church choir. After college, he initially pursued a career in the NFL but eventually shifted his focus to rap and R&B in the secular space. “There wasn’t much traction there, so I turned to God for guidance,” he recalls. “In 2012-2013, God directed me to use my gifts for Him. Now, I perform all over the East Coast.”

What motivates you to build what you've made so far?

“I aim to do God’s work here on Earth,” Reggie shares. “The more I follow His will, the more I feel blessed. I want to spread a good message to the people.” He faced challenges in securing shows early on, which motivated him to create opportunities not just for himself but for other struggling artists as well. “This led me to where I am today, creating events for others to participate in.”

What long-term vision do you have for your business, and where do you see it going from here?

Reggie envisions opening a studio where artists can record, sign contracts, and create shows. “I want to help artists get opportunities without the usual barriers,” he states.

If you had a $10k investment with no strings attached, how would you use it for your business?

“I would tithe 10% to the church and create a tour to build a recurring show,” Reggie responds, emphasizing the importance of financial stewardship in his plans.

What do you want people to know about your business that often gets overlooked or misunderstood?

“Gospel rap is still about God,” Reggie clarifies. “Some people have a negative connotation based on the beats or sounds, but the message remains strictly about God’s word.”

What are the most difficult parts of your job in running your business?

“Getting people to buy into the concept and showing up consistently can be challenging,” he admits.

What advice would you give to yourself or others when just getting started in the same business space?

  1. “Keep God first and stay praying.”

  2. “Don’t be afraid to take chances in your music career. You’ll miss every opportunity if you never take one at all.”
